I was born in Denver, Colorado and am a 4th generation Colorado native. I graduated from Colorado AeroTech School for aircraft mechanics and immediately started my career with Martin Marietta now known as Lockheed Martin. Thirty seven years later, I am still working for them, but from our home in Pagosa Springs. My wife, Denise, and I met in 1988. We moved to the mountains west of Denver in 1989, then to Pagosa Springs in the fall of 2018 and we are here to stay, God willing! As we approached our retirement years, we could think of no better place than here. Golf, fishing, hiking, scenery, great people – Pagosa has it all, and then some. Some days it is a challenge to get my work done when my fly rod is calling and the golf clubs are getting too cool, but one of these days…..
My calling from Jesus came via many people whose paths have crossed mine and the numerous hints from God throughout most of my life. I know my redemption took place the hour I believed. For that, I am eternally grateful. Replacing our church home after our move was our number one activity. After checking out several churches in Pagosa Springs, we picked Pagosa Bible as our new church home and we couldn’t be happier. The people we have met here have been warm and friendly and the teachings are theologically sound and right on the mark. Right after we started attending Pagosa Bible Church my wife and I got involved to enhance our learning – going beyond the Sunday messages – to dig deeper into the Scriptures. We attend adult Sunday school, Wednesday Bible study and have grown a lot in our scriptural knowledge. I enjoy serving wherever I can for the Lord. If you have not found your church home yet, I encourage you to come to Pagosa Bible Church. May the blessings of our Lord be with you!

Rex & Marlys Nelson

Rex Nelson: Born to proud Texans, I was raised on a farm in the Texas Panhandle. My love of machinery led me to a 39 year career as a design engineer in new product development with Ditch Witch in Perry, OK.

I met Marlys, my wife, in OK where we married on December 23, 1978. We have two children: our daughter Moriah, son Nathan (Abey), and one granddaughter, Jacqui.

Upon retirement in 2009, we found Pagosa Springs as fulfilling our dream of a favorable climate and our love of the San Juan Mountains. When looking for a church we wanted a church rich in Bible-based teaching. One visit to Pagosa Bible Church combined with the friendly, welcoming atmosphere assured us that we were home.

My passions include designing and building useful items, exploring the beauty of SW CO in my 1969 Ford Bronco, and sharing the love of God that I have felt throughout my life.

Scott & Kristine Martin

Scott Martin: I was raised in a small farming town in South Dakota. As long as I can remember, I had an interest in seeing the world, which led to a 35 year career in international insurance.

I met Kris, my wife, in 1970 during our freshman year at St. Olaf college. We married four years later during graduation weekend. We have two sons – Roman and Isaac.

Upon retirement in 2009, we knew we wanted to move to the mountains in CO, but did not know where. A friend in San Antonio suggested Pagosa Springs. My response was “where’s that?” That summer we bought a home here and have loved it ever since. A combination of sound teaching and genuine friendliness brought us to PBC.

My passions are God, Kris, my sons, Bible study, teaching children’s Sunday school, hiking with my dogs, swimming, skiing and improving upon my poor golf game.

Don & Paula Ford

Don Ford: I was raised in upstate New York with my six siblings. At 20, I moved to Tempe, AZ to attend ASU. I became a golf course superintendent in Mesa, AZ for eight years before adding the golf course here in Pagosa o my responsibilities. I then traveled between the two courses for three years and finally left AZ and moved to Pagosa Springs in 1980.

Six years later, I met my wife, Paula, an elementary school teacher and her three children. I believe it was God’s work bringing all of us together here in Pagosa. We became a family on November 25, 1987. We have two sons, Brian (Morgan) and Keith (Suzanna,) and one daughter, Ashley (Davey). And yes, we have also been blessed with ten grandchildren!!

I am not retired, but actively run our construction business, UCAL, Inc. My passions include following the Lord, playing with family, trying to play golf, and pitching in softball. By the way, our softball team won the championship in 2017!
