God is a God of intention.  He is on a mission to redeem and restore our world.  The Church is central to that mission.  We are invited by God to step into His mission and play our unique role in God’s story.  Below is how Pagosa Bible Church understands and expresses our mission and vision as we seek to follow God together.

Our Mission

To know Christ and Make Him Known.

Our Vision

We glorify God as people who love and are loved by Him.  Therefore we will:

  • Love People
  • Be Rooted in the Bible
  • Reach our Community and World

Vision Defined:

We glorify God as people who love and are loved by God (Matt 22:36-40, John 3:16, Romans 5:8)

God loves us.  Foundational to who we are and our identity is being people who know, experience and have received the love God gives to us and to love Him in return.

Therefore we will (Ephesians 2:1-10)

Our actions are a response to God’s actions toward us.  God is the initiator.  He makes the first move and we respond to what he has done.

Love People (John 13:34-35, Matthew 22:36-40)

  • We will be a place where everyone, especially the hurting, the depressed, the frustrated and the confused can find love, acceptance, help, hope, forgiveness, healing, guidance and encouragement.
  • We will intentionally and actively seek to better care for and support those in need in our congregation.
  • We will work to develop pathways for people to connect in deeper and richer relationships with others.
  • We are a congregation with people of many ages and generations and will be a church which seeks to develop significant relationships that bring the generations together.
  • We will be a church that values our children and youth and will strive to have them be an integral part of our congregation.

Rooted in the Bible (Col. 2:6-7, John 1:1-4)

  • We will be intentional to develop spiritually mature disciples through Bible studies, small groups, classes, retreats and a Bible school for our members and the community.
  • We will develop a comprehensive discipleship curriculum which will create a path for our members to travel on toward greater spiritual growth and maturity.
  • We will help all people – children, youth and adults – to discover their divine design so they will be equipped to serve Christ effectively in ministry both inside and outside our church walls. We envision every regular attender of PBC being a minister.
  • We will be a church that invests in the next generation of believers and Christian leaders. We will equip and support parents as the lead disciplers of their children while providing high quality children and youth ministries to partner with them.
  • We will work to strengthen marriages and families because we know that outside the church, this is the most influential and powerful institution in the world.
  • We will preach the word boldly, faithfully and excellently during our corporate worship gatherings and through our use of the arts and technology.
  • We will be a prayerful church, committed to praying for each other, our community, nation and world.

Reach out to our Community and World (Acts 1:8, Matthew 5:13-16; 28:18-20)

  • We will seek to share the Gospel with hundreds of people in our community (both residents and visitors), praying that many of them come to faith in Christ.
  • We will be a generous church who gives an ever increasing percentage of lives and resources to further the Gospel through missionary partnerships at home and abroad.
  • We will seek for every person in Archuleta County to fulfill the God-given purpose for their life. To do this, we will be involved in our community through strategic partnerships and ministries of mercy, compassion and justice.
  • We will partner with others and host events that will offer the people of our community the opportunity to move closer to a relationship with Christ where they can find meaning, healing and hope in their lives.
  • We will make our corporate worship an experience God uses to inspire, strengthen and encourage believers to greater involvement in his mission in the world.

Supporting this Vision

  • We envision a beautiful yet simple facility that will accommodate our growth and enable us to minister to our community in a greater way. This facility is not for our glory or acclaim but we will seek to maximize its usage as it provides room for children’s and youth ministry, corporate worship, fellowship gatherings (with a real kitchen), small groups and Bible classes and prayer.  It will also be a resource to our community to do all we can to serve and reach people with the Good News of Jesus Christ and seek the welfare of the community God has placed us within
